Decks #121
This grey deck runs along the back of a stone house, raised just enough to need a set of steps. We built three wide steps down to the stamped concrete patio, so there’s an easy, gradual way in and out of the yard.
The grey deck boards and skirting pick up the colour of the stone, and the black railings frame the deck without taking over. A dark storage box fits neatly at the bottom of the railing, and up top there’s plenty of room for a sitting area by the doors.
Grey decking with black railings is a combination that works with almost any house. Here it suits the stone and the dark roof, so the deck feels like it was part of the original build. Palmer’s Woodworking is based in Fergus, and it’s a pairing we like a lot.
