Palmer’s Woodworking designed, built and installed this stacked stone fireplace wall unit. The stone runs from the floor up to the ceiling on one side, with a long floating wood mantel crossing the whole wall.

Beside the stone, wood cabinets with a flat, modern look surround the TV, and a narrow open shelf gives a spot for a few favourite pieces. Two small floating shelves on the stone hold some décor as well.

The warm wood tones pair nicely with the grey and tan colours in the stone, and the long mantel ties the stone and the cabinets together.

It’s a modern take on the classic fireplace wall, with clean lines, hidden storage and lots of natural texture.

We kept the cabinet doors flat and simple so the wood grain could shine, and the open shelf gives a little room for display.
