Palmer’s Woodworking designed, built and installed this rustic beam mantel wall unit. This close-up shows the thick, dark wood beam that sits over the tiled fireplace, with all of its natural texture and character.

On both sides, white bookcases with open shelves and cabinets below frame the fireplace, and the TV hangs above the mantel. The rough, dark beam gives a great contrast against the smooth white built-ins.

A beam mantel is a simple way to add a rustic touch to a modern room, and it gives the eye a natural place to rest.

The white bookcases have open shelves for display and shaker doors below for storage. The beam’s dark finish ties in with the tile around the fireplace and gives the room a cozy, rustic feel.
