Palmer’s Woodworking designed, built and installed this fireplace wall unit with glass doors. The white mantel and surround sit in the centre, with a low glass-door cabinet on each side and more cabinets carrying on along the wall.

The glass doors give the homeowners a place to show off a few treasured pieces, while keeping them safe from dust. The cabinets are kept low, so the TV on the wall above has plenty of space and the room feels open.

The white paint matches the mantel, and the cabinets carry on along the wall so the whole wall works as one long built-in.

Low built-ins like these are a great choice when you want storage around a fireplace without blocking a window or a piece of art.

We carried the cabinets along the wall so the storage continues past the fireplace, and the white paint ties everything back to the mantel. It’s a simple design that adds a lot of storage.
