Palmer’s Woodworking designed, built and installed this TV and bookcase wall unit. A light stone fireplace sits in the middle, with white built-ins on both sides.

On one side, the TV sits on top of the lower cabinets, with open shelves above it. On the other side, a bookcase holds books, photos and décor. The shaker-door cabinets below give plenty of closed storage on both sides.

Putting the TV to the side of the fireplace keeps it at a comfortable height for watching.

We built the shelves to suit both books and décor, and painted everything white so the warm stone of the fireplace stands out. The cabinets below give lots of room for games, movies and blankets, and the crown moulding at the top finishes the built-ins nicely. The result is a wall that’s practical, balanced and easy to live with.

Take a look at the room before and the finished after shot to see the change.
