Sometimes a kitchen just needs a fresh start. This Elora kitchen renovation took a space filled with dark espresso cabinets and turned it into a bright, open kitchen that feels twice the size.

Palmer’s Woodworking designed, built and installed new custom cabinetry for this home in Elora, Ontario. Classic white shaker doors now run along every wall, with crown moulding across the tops of the upper cabinets for a clean, finished look.

Tall pantry cabinets stand floor to ceiling beside the fridge, giving the family plenty of storage for everything from dry goods to small appliances. Below the counters, deep drawers and cabinets keep pots and pans close to the range, and the sink sits under the window with a black faucet that adds a little contrast to all that white.

The L-shaped layout wraps around into a generous peninsula, finished with bright white countertops that give plenty of room for prep work, serving and gathering.

Compared with the old dark cabinets, the change is remarkable. The room now reflects the light and has a crisp, timeless feel that will look great for years to come.
