Decks #89

Second storey deck with glass railings, wood posts and stairs with black railings down to a landing and the yard, designed, built and installed by Palmer's Woodworking of Fergus, Ontario.

This second storey deck sits high off the back of the house, with glass railings around the top for an open view. From the side you can see how the stairs come down to a landing and then turn to reach the yard.

Black railings run down the stairs to match the frames of the glass panels, and solid wood posts support the deck and the landing. The patio below stays dry and shaded.

A second storey deck needs careful planning, from the posts and footings to the stair layout. We make sure each part is strong and looks good from below. It’s part of the work we do at Palmer’s Woodworking in Fergus.

The landing partway down gives you a place to pause, and it lets the stairs turn so they don’t run too far out into the yard. Glass panels and black metal look sharp against the light siding and brick of the house.
