Decks #112
The angled steps on this deck turn the corner instead of meeting it, which softens the shape and gives you an easy way down to the lawn from two directions. The steps are wide and gentle, so they’re comfortable for everyone.
Black railings run around the rest of the deck, standing out against the wood and the red brick of the house. There’s plenty of room on top for a table and chairs right outside the back door.
Angled steps take a bit more care to build, since every tread has to be cut to fit the turn. It’s worth it, though, because a deck with angled steps looks more inviting than one with a plain set of stairs. Our crew builds this kind of deck from our shop in Fergus.
