Decks #106
This wood deck has a walkway that slopes gently down between large armour stones, turning a tricky change in level into an easy stroll. The walkway has its own railings, so it feels safe all the way down.
Up on the deck, wood railings with black balusters frame a space big enough for a gazebo and a barbecue. The warm wood sits nicely beside the grey stone, and the deck follows the shape of the yard rather than fighting it.
A deck walkway like this one is a great alternative to stairs on a sloped lot. It’s easier to roll a cart or wheel a barbecue up and down, and it looks right at home among the rocks and plantings. We designed and built it from our shop in Fergus.
